Known Once is an immersive performance piece based on personal stories and movement collected in partnership with 826 Valencia, a San Francisco-based organization that supports writing and literacy in young people, and The Redwoods, a mixed-income residential community for seniors in Mill Valley. After six years of creating performance installations inspired by literature, Known Once is the first project for LFD that draws on real life words, movement, and experiences.

In the fall of 2016, Liss Fain and the company dancers worked closely with youth and senior participants in a series of storytelling and movement workshops at 826 Valencia and The Redwoods. Their movement and words form the basis of the choreography and original musical score of Known Once.
