Over the last two years I have been exploring new approaches to integrated collaborative performances, which I have called the Frames of Light project.
In this experimental alternative to traditional dance concerts, multiple companies perform their own work but operate within an evening framework that I choreograph. Using collaborative meetings with the choreographers, video, lighting, and sets, this integrated performance becomes a unique 'piece' unto itself.
The goal of these concerts is to create a comprehensive artistic vision through the innovative unification of the multiple works. I define the theme and structure the integration of the work to create a highly-energized and cohesive event in collaboration with visual designer Matthew Antaky, who through his visual designs, assists in developing the underlying theme that joins the pieces together. By combining the dynamic range of multiple pieces with the cohesion of a single work the audience experiences a unique viewing experience.
