ABOUT THE WORKSHOP:

Join artistic director Liss Fain and LFD company dancers for an intensive three-day workshop on choreographic process and performance. You will work closely with the company on creating and developing movement; building partnering; and exploring the collaborative process that goes into LFD’s highly physical, evening-length installation works. This workshop is intended for professional and advanced dancers.

LFD fuses contemporary force with the kinetic precision of classical ballet and personal expressiveness. We bring choreography to life inside installation environments that put the audience in close proximity to the dancers. Our work has been presented by YBCA, ODC Theater, and Z Space in San Francisco; and has been performed in New York, Germany, Belarus, Russia, Poland, and the UK. Our 2018-2019 season at Z Space includes performances of I Don’t Know and Never Will in October 2018 and a premiere in May 2019.

Liss Fain Dance has two ongoing education programs that connect the company with both young people and advanced dancers. The company's outreach program, developed in partnership with 826 Valencia, provides opportunities for students from a broad spectrum of communities to combine dance and movement with creative writing. LFD has also partnered with Breakthrough San Francisco for a semester-long series of outreach workshops. For advanced and professional dancers, LFD's intensive workshops immerse participants in an intimate experience of the company's creative process for developing installation work. For more information about LFD's outreach programs, please visit the outreach page of our website.
